Gold & Silver Medals – Kamnik Winery at Cité Internationale 2014 July 11, 2014

Kamink1Cité Internationale 2014, an international event with a growing popularity which takes place in Lion, France, is attended by wine manufacturers, wine merchants, sommeliers, representatives from top restaurants, and certainly by those who appreciate the delicacy of a well crafted wine. President of the Cité Internationale 2014 was Christophe Roure, a holder of two Michelin stars, and the jury was composed of 500 eminent members.

An interesting fact is that this year, for the first time, there were wines from the R. Macedonia at Cité Internationale. The participation of the Kamnik Winery at such an event in France is signification for the brand itself, as well as for the promotion of the country among the international wine audience.

The Kamnik winery participated at this competition with two of their wines, the Cuvée de Prestige 2012 and Chardonnay Barrel Fermented 2012, both winning significant recognition.

Cuvée de Prestige 2012, a gold medal winner, is a dry red wine with a guaranteed and controlled origin; made from carefully selected grapes from the own vineyards; this wine is a blend of the Merlot, Carmenere and Vranec varieties. Its color is remarkable, intensely red; the aroma unveils red berries with hints of vegetative notes and dark chocolate sub-tones, which makes this wine unforgettable; the taste is full-bodied, with a high content of harmonic acids and soft, velvety tannins that enable a several-year bottle ageing capacity.

Kamnik2Another recognition for the Kamnik winery at the Cité Internationale 2014 is the silver medal for their Chardonnay Barrel Fermented 2012, a wine characterized by a yellow-greenish color and crystal clearness; the nose is complex and splendid, a combination of aromas of tropical fruits; and the taste is best described as creamy, with a biscuit-butter-like structure and fruity aftertaste that gives off melon and pear; a wine with an exceptional fullness, harmony, roundness, and with a several-year ageing potential.

The team of the Kamnik winery says that every medal and recognition won at any of the prestigious wine competitions and events throughout the world is their inspiration for new wine creations that will take them closer to the always-evolving idea of perfection. The source of their creative energy, says the Kamnik team, is as simple as their motto is, it’s the “passion for perfection”.
