DHL Express Macedonia marked the Global Volunteer Day with the athletes of the Special Olympics Macedonia October 2, 2014

As part of the company’s Corporate Responsibility initiatives – GoHelp (Delivering help) and GoTeach (Improving educational opportunity), on Saturday, September 30th, DHL Express Macedonia together with the athletes of the Special Olympics team of Macedonia, marked the Global Volunteer Day. 45 employees of DHL Express Macedonia together with their guests, spent a memorable day filled with various activities and fellowship while celebrating the accomplishment and the success of our Olympians at this year’s European Summer Games of Special Olympics, held in Antwerp, Belgium.

During the Open Day at DHL Express Macedonia, the employees at the company introduced the members of the Special Olympics with the work processes at DHL Express. The work operations and the daily challenges were openly discussed between the employees and their guests which provided them an opportunity to learn firsthand about DHL and its work.

DHL Express Macedonia, as part of the Deutsche Post DHL, is the market leader in express transport and logistics.  With the donation that helped the young athletes and the entire delegation of the Special Olympics of Macedonia to travel to the European Summer Games Special Olympics, , we proved again that we are nothing but a socially responsible company At this event that took place from 9 to 21 September 2014 in Antwerp, Belgium , Macedonian competitors achieved substantial results i.e. 4 bronze medals as follows: Ajbazi Sebaat- 200 meters in athletics, Hristijan Tutureski, 100 meters in athletics, Zivko Stojanov in ping pong and Aleksandar Cvetkovski in badminton.

All this, as part of the global campaign of DP DHL, initiates DHL employees to assist and act in the local community and also to raise the passion for volunteerism among them. Helping is an important part of the corporate culture of DP DHL and employees are encouraged to follow the program through three initiatives for corporate responsibility: Go Green (Environmental Protection), Go Teach (Improving educational opportunity), Go Help (Delivering Help).
