On November 12 & 13, AmCham organized a Presentation & Public Speaking Workshop with Kaitlin Turck, Cultural and Educational Attache at the U.S. Embassy in Skopje. As an award winning public speaker who has actively competed in speaking competitions, performed on stage, taught, and appeared on television for the last 16 years, Kaitlin gave valuable advises to all participants for further development of these skills.
On the first day, the basics of public speaking and impromptu speaking were covered. During this session, Ms. Turck pointed out that the preparation process is most important for people to have successful presentation.
The next day, attendees read short text related to their work and told a short interesting story from their personal life. Ms. Turck gave useful tips and tricks how to make the speech to be more natural and free, highlighting that usage of filler words and making eye contact are essential to connect with the public.
Workshop participants were very satisfied and they all concluded that the interactive part was helpful for understanding the elements that are missing or need improvement.
