On February 4th, AmCham members and representatives of other business associations and chambers attended an info session with Dr. Stuart Gilman, an anti-corruption expert with vast global experience.
During the discussion, Mr. Gilman shared his advice on how company managers can proactively identify and protect their organizations from corruption-related risks. He also pointed out that evaluation of Macedonia’s actual position in fight against the corruption is a must.
Mr. Veton Qoku, Attorney at Law from a regional law firm KN Karanovic & Nikolic, enhanced the legal perspectives on this important topic, by referring to the Macedonian legislation, U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and UK Bribery Act. These two acts were part of the discussion since both have extraterritorial jurisdiction.
The event was organized in cooperation with the Center for Civil Communications and Dr. Gilman’s visit to Macedonia was arranged through the U.S. Embassy speakers program.
