Karanovic & Nikolic’s Focus on Competition Publication Released February 27, 2015

Karanović & Nikolić’s publication Focus on Competition was released at the end of 2014. With Croatia firmly in the European Union and most of the region intensifying the EU accession process, competition law is gaining increasing prominence. The Firm’s most recent publication highlights regional and country-specific trends and developments in competition law practice, as well as European and industry perspectives on EU competition policy. The book includes practical considerations, such as tips for in-house counsel on how to handle anti-trust investigations, interviews with competition practitioners and a statistical overview of the region, as well as an analysis of various legal issues, for example the regional framework regulating the creation and operation of joint ventures, the treatment of trustees under European Competition Law and the interconnections between EU Competition Law and various international agreements.

The Focus on Competition publication was officially launched at a joint event of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom and Karanović & Nikolić, in Belgrade on 13 November 2014. At the event, participants were presented with a multi-stakeholder examination of the important aspects of competition law and policy as it is developing in this challenging region. Distinguished international experts, government representatives and lawyers gave presentations on the regional competition law framework, the evolution and present state of practice, the political and economic consequences of competition law, and challenges for future enforcement.
