AmCham convened a round table discussion on “The Procurement Profession: Trends and Challenges” on Wednesday, March 4th at Holiday Inn hotel – Millennium 1 hall. This high profile event started with an opening address from the U.S. Ambassador Jess L. Baily, who pointed out that in public procurement it’s important to secure equal conditions and fer competition for all companies in order to have healthy economy.
After the official opening a panel discussion followed with three distinguished guest speakers:
- Daniel Gordon, Senior Adviser to the George Washington University Law School’s Government Procurement Law Program;
International perspectives on strengthening procurement workforces
- Stefan Peter, Chairman of EVN Macedonia’s Management Board who also has an extensive procurement leadership background;
Unlocking procurement’s real potential in an organization
- Aleksandar Argirovski, Acting Director of the Public Procurement Bureau
Education and training of procurement professionals in Macedonia
The event was part of our efforts to promote the importance of the procurement profession in the country and it was a good opportunity for guests to gain perspectives on global trends and challenges in this field. During the discussion we heard the views of top business and public sector procurement leadership.
Approximately 60 participants attended the round table, including representatives from the member companies, state institutions and member companies of CEED Club. According to the evaluation forms 88% rated the event format and the speaker as high and 12% as average.
This event had excellent media coverage and was published in over 35 media in the Republic of Macedonia.
