With a successful prize winning game and a humanitarian campaign these days we have celebrated 20 years of fruitful cooperation between two giants in financial operations – Komercijalna Banka AD Skopje and MasterCard Worldwide.
The partnership commenced in 1994, when we signed the license agreement, thus making Komercijalna Bank AD Skopje the first bank in the Republic of Macedonia to start cooperation with a highly developed international financial institution. Very soon, on 18.12.1995, the cooperation resulted in issuance of the first payment card of the internationally licensed brand MasterCard Worldwide.
The first ATM and POS terminal in the Republic of Macedonia which acquired all the cards from the MasterCard program were installed in February 1996. Trust and cooperation were increasing and in 1999 resulted in issuance of the first business card from the MasterCard program for clients of Komercijalna Banka, which opened new possibilities for the business community in the Republic of Macedonia.
In the following years, Komercijalna Banka was getting strongly developed in terms of technology, and as a result in 2007 it issued the first co-branded MasterCard card in the Republic of Macedonia. The needs of increased security and safety in international transactions grew both in the world and in the Republic of Macedonia, thus in 2012 Komercijalna Banka started to issue cards with chips from the MasterCard Worldwide program.
With the globalization process, the needs of citizens and companies in the Republic of Macedonia became universal, thus in 2013 Komercijalna Banka issued the first Platinum MasterCard. In 2014, it completed all certification procedures to allow contactless (PayPass) terminals and cards from the MasterCard program. Since 2015 Komercijalna Bank has been focused on complete replacement on the POS terminal networks and cards for the purpose of popularization of the contactless payments as a part of the global tendency of MasterCard.
Nowadays, Komercijalna Banka AD Skopje is the largest partner of MasterCard in the Republic of Macedonia. With its network of over 7500 points of sale with POS terminals and 159 ATMs, the Bank offers 15 different products for legal entities and individuals from the sphere of payment cards.
In the past 20 years, the Bank was continually investing in its own hardware-software platform for card operation, in education of its clients to change their habits and use of the payment cards and increase use of the cards at the points of sale. For that purpose we have organized many marketing campaigns in cooperation with MasterCard, and a part of them were prize winning games.
In 2015, Komercijalna Banka celebrated two jubilees. One of the was 60 year from foundation and the other one, realized in the period 21.11.2015-31.12.2015 with the recent campaign “Buy, give gifts from the heart and win valuable prizes”, referred to the 20 years fruitful cooperation between Komercijalna Banka and MasterCard Worldwide. The results from the prize winning game were known on 12.01.2016, and participation was provided by any transaction of at least MKD 300,00 made at points of sale in the country with Maestro® or MasterCard® cards issued by Komercijalna Banka to individuals. Each transaction of at least MKD 300,00 provided cardholders you with two chances to participate and double chance to win a prize.
The major prize is the amount of EUR 20.000 in denar equivalent transferred on transaction account with the Bank, while consolation prizes comprise 20(twenty) gift cards for the “Skopje City Mall” shopping center in the amount of MKD 5.000, 20(twenty) gift cards in the amount of MKD 3.000 and 200(two hundred) gift cards in the amount of MKD 1.000.
As socially responsible companies, Komercijalna Banka AD Skopje and MasterCard Worldwide consider financial inclusion as their strategic objective. Therefore, the last joint campaign had a humanitarian character. From each transaction in the period of the prize winning game, Komercijalna Banka and MasterCard® set 1 denar aside for the Red Cross of the Republic of Macedonia. The total amount of the donation is MKD 640.961, the amount that shall be used for the project “Donate Organs Save Lives”.
This cooperation is a real model of how financial institutions in international cooperation can create new possibilities for societies and positively influence the human lives.Category: Member News
