On 9 February 2017 we had the opportunity to see the suburban Topaana in a different light, thanks to the students from the Faculty of Architecture in Skopje. As part of the cooperation with Habitat Macedonia, they developed 10 proposal projects for urbanization of buildings and public spaces from the neighborhood. The project was preceded by a meeting between representatives from the local community and the students, where Topaana residents highlighted the most pressing problems, according to which the students developed solutions.
At the end of the presentation, which was also attended by representatives of the Municipality of Cair, a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Municipality and the local population was signed, thus creating conditions for inclusion of Topaana residents in the further urban development of their neighborhood.
All activities are part of Habitat Macedonia’s Project “Roma Housing Rights for Sustainable Urban Development” funded by the European Union.
